Beneficios del ciclismo aficionado en la salud percibida de adultos sanos

Resumen

El objetivo del presente estudio fue comparar el estado de salud percibida de ciclistas de resistencia adultos aficionados que practicaban un elevado volumen de entrenamiento respecto a adultos controles inactivos. En 859 (751 hombres, 108 mujeres) ciclistas de resistencia adultos aficionados y 718 sujetos inactivos (307 hombres, 411 mujeres), valoramos el estado actual de entrenamiento y el estado de salud percibida incluyendo la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud, calidad de sueño, ansiedad y depresión y factores de riesgo cardiometabólico: índice de masa corporal, niveles de actividad física y condición física, adherencia a la dieta mediterránea, y consumo de alcohol y tabaco. Tanto los ciclistas aficionados masculinos como femeninos reportaron valores de salud percibida significativamente mejores que sus respectivos grupos controles inactivos en todas las variables principales, excepto en depresión para ambos géneros. La práctica de ciclismo de resistencia aficionado de elevado volumen es una forma de realizar actividad física de tiempo libre recomendada para adultos sanos porque puede producir un amplio rango de beneficios para la salud percibida.
